1) To eat better - well balanced meals, more veggies on our plates, and to try and eat more organic.
2) To get at least 30 minutes of exercise in per day
3) To love myself in the present tense no matter what shape I am in
4) To teach my daughter the importance of a healthy body image
5) To do an outdoor activity with my family every weekend (weather permitting)
Why am I doing this?
I come from a long line of women who based their entire self worth on what they look like. I have spent the past couple of decades yoyoing in weight trying to achieve the "perfect body" and not always the healthy way. When we saw the girly bits in an ultrasound during my last pregnancy, I knew that I would break the cycle for my little girl. I will teach her how to live a healthy lifestyle and to love herself just as she is and lead by example.
I figure if I make a blog of it and get friends, family, and anyone else who would like to support me to follow me, it would be harder to talk myself out of this. I am human and I am not putting unachievable goals on myself, I know I will have moments of weakness and would love the support of my followers to help get me back on the horse :-)
Why a size 5?
Why a 5? Because it is catchy and seems like a good, healthy, and maintainable size for someone who is 5'2" with my frame. If I am happy and healthy at any other size I will be delighted with that one. I will be whatever size this lifestyle takes me to. I was actually informed by a friend that in adult women's clothing they go by even numbers... oh well. 365 to a size 5 sounds pretty catchy, so I am sticking with it.
Why a year?
I know that it won't take me an entire year to get to a healthy size and weight, but my short term goal is to lead this lifestlye of healthy eating and exercise for an entire year. Studies show that if you do a habit for a year, your chances of it sticking heighten drastically.
