Weight Watchers online diet program, I knew I had to try it! I wrote to them asking (ok begging) to try it out, I truly never expected a response! When they wrote back I was so excited! I was given six months to review and a three month membership to give away to one of my readers.
Not only has the program been amazing, but the support from the company has been immeasurable. Thank you Allie, Cynthia, Nicole and Lyndsay!
Since the program has so many amazing components, I will just review the few that I use the most. Throughout the next six months I will review other components and share some wonderful tips and maybe even a recipe or two.
Points System: Before I got pregnant with Ellianna I went to go see a nutritionist who put together this great plan, I lost weight really fast, a month later I gained it all back. It was great if I never left the house and surrounded myself with whole grains, legumes, and lean meats cut into the size of a stack of cards. It was not made for someone like me who finds herself at birthday parties, playdates, and sometimes has to go through a drive thru when the kids' schedules get out of hand. The points system that Weight Watchers has is what sets them apart from the rest. The points system allows you to live a normal life with just a little extra planning.
Each food is assigned a certain amount of points per serving size, when you consume these points you enter them into your points tracker and they are deducted from your total points allotted to you for the day. If you search for the food and it isn't there, they have a handy points calculator where you enter in the calories, fat grams, and fiber and your food is then assigned a certain amount of points.
When you sign up for Weight Watchers and answer the Personal Points Quiz they determine the right amount of points for you. Using this simple system you will have a normal life. With a little bit of manipulation you can sit with your friends and have that yummy blended coffee or have a bacon cheeseburger with your husband, you just have to cut back on your meal points for the rest of the day. If you get caught in traffic and have to run to a fast food joint and snack on some of your kid's fries during lunch, just make sure that you stir fry some trimmed chicken and vegetables for dinner. This diet plan is definitely made for me!
You are also given extra points per week if you want to splurge on a point expensive dinner or you can spread them out throughout the week.
Activity Tracker: As if Weight Watchers hasn't already made everything easier than you thought possible... activities are also on the points system, and if need be they can be turned into extra food points. They have a ton of activities worth various points, the walks/ hikes that I go on are worth 2-4 points depending on how long I go for. Cleaning the house is even worth points!
Weight Tracker: Once a week you weigh in and your progress is charted. Your points may possibly go down too.
Recipes: There are so many great recipes! You can search by cuisine, points, difficulty, and more! The recipes I have tried were delicious! In fact I think every Friday I will make one and share it, stay tuned! They also have a recipe builder, where you enter in the ingredients to your own recipes and they are awarded a point value.
Community: They have forums, groups, blogs, and walls! I haven't had a chance to really participate that much, so more information to come later.
Weight Watchers Mobile: This is what makes this diet meal plan so easy for me. As a mom, it is hard to find time to get in front of the computer. They have an amazing free application (free with your online Weight Watchers subscription) which has some of the tools available in the online program.
It has your points tracker for food and activities, featured recipes, a points calculator, success stories (can be inspiring during moments of weakness), and more. The only thing I really wish that it had that is on the online program is the "Track Healthy Checks" where it helps you log all of the nutritional elements of your day.
**Update! They just updated their Application for smart phones, it now has healthy checks and much more! So exciting!
