Ecousable's Stainless Steel Bottle - Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

Have you ever opened up a package and just squealed?  When I got the package from Ecousable and saw the five bottles pictured above I got so excited!  They are gorgeous!  The pictures don't do them justice.  Such high quality as well!  I have tried some lower quality stainless steel bottles and they had a weird metalic taste to them, the bottles I received from Ecousable don't.   The two smaller bottles are perfect for my son and daughter (Ellie will have to wait a few months before using hers).  Gavin was so excited I had to wash it immediately and fill it up with water for him.   We were also given two sport caps.  One went right onto Gavin's sports car bottle (he is a spiller haha).  What I love about these caps is that it has a safety cap as well as the normal mouth piece mechanism.  This helps prevent spills as well as keeps dirt off of the spout.  If you ever see me on one of my walks you will see two of these bottles in the cupholder, one for me and one for the kidlets.

Now for their most exciting product!  ECH2O!

Information provided by Ecousable:
The ECH2O filtered water bottle is the world’s first stainless steel bottle which includes its own portable filtration system that provides high quality great-tasting filtered water on the go…

* AVERAGE of $1,600 SAVINGS PER YEAR (based on replacing $1 plastic water bottles)
* Great for Daily Tap Water Use!
* Drink from local STREAMS, RIVERS & LAKES in the United States (Everything but salt water!)
* Filter tested by independent state and EPA approved laboratories to EPS/ANSI protocols and NSF Standards 42 & 53
* 304 Food grade stainless steel bottle
* Emergency preparedness survival bottle
* Great for all scenarios like Airport Travel, Driving, Working, Outdoor Activities, The Gym, Restaurants, etc, etc….
* Removes harmful contaminants as you drink through the flip top straw
* BPA-free, Non-leaching and Eco-friendly
* Filter average lifespan is 6 months of use
* Filter replacement units sold separately
* Filter made in the U.S.A.

I have no idea how Marc knew, but purple is my favorite color!  It also came with a really cool leash.  Such an exciting and innovative product!  We are planning on going camping this summer and this is the first thing I am going to pack!
Ecousable  sent me an extra bottle with an adorable wrap which makes it so cute as well as easy to handle.  One of my lucky readers will get to win this stainless steel water bottle!  Here are some details on it (it is the 16 oz one):

Information provided by Ecousable:
EcoUsable - 10oz, 16oz & 33oz Non-Filtered Bottles

A feature people absolutely love is the half-turn loop top which comes standard with every 10oz, 16oz & 33oz non-filtered EcoUsable bottle. The half-turn top not only makes it very simple for the consumer to gain easy access to their water but, also prevents the bottles from having any grooves (or divots) within the mouth of the bottle so it’s a very safe and sustainable bottle to use over and over again….. (see attached comparison photos)

EcoUsable bottles are all made of high quality 304 food grade stainless steel so they are NON-LEACHING, BPA FREE and require NO INNER LINING!
EcoUsable bottles include a slip proof matted bottom and a convenient carabineer clip to attach to buckles, backpacks, purses, etc…
EcoUsable bottles are the safe alternative to plastic bottles and are designed to fit in majority of car cup holders, bicycle and gym equipment holders.
EcoUsable offers the largest selection in the industry with multiple sizes, colors and designs

The bottles were given to me for free, the opinions expressed above are purely my own and others may have different outcomes

SnackTAXI Review

I was blown away when I opened up the mail and received my snackTAXI!  I heard how amazing they were, but I had my doubts.  When I saw how well made the snackTAXIs were and how adorable, I knew that the company had their newest fan.... me!  The prints are so cute and modern! The snackTAXIs pictured above are the ones we were sent.

The top one is the sandwich sack and it fits our sandwiches!  The plastic bags that we used to use didn't fit the bigger sized sandwiches that I make Mike.   The bottom TAXI is for snacks, and has been claimed by Gavin, he uses it everytime we go for walks (pictured below).  The snack size also fits his smaller sandwiches.
I was a little hesitant to put small snacks such as pretzels and things in the snack one, I thought for sure they would fall out, but they don't.  The velcro is very secure and the way it folds down ensures that nothing will fall out.  I am in love with these!

They are very easy to take care of as well!  Here is some information from their site:
snackTAXIs are a great alternative to plastic bags and wraps, especially when just one reusable bag has the potential to eliminate an average of 1000 plastic bags over its lifetime!
snackTAXIs are lined with coated nylon, and can be machine washed and dried, or simply wiped clean with a damp sponge.

I am so happy to have found these, it was a bit ridiculous that I was still using disposable plastic baggies this day in age.  In my opinion, if you can help save the Earth and eliminate waste, while saving money in the process, there is no reason not to use products such as the snackTAXIs.

The TAXIs were given to me for free from the company and the opinions expressed above are solely my own.  Other's may have different experiences than mine.

Lows: My baby bumped her head today, so scary, but she is ok.

Random: Speaking of trains; for those of you with little boys, if they start to show an interest in trains, research and pick one set.  If you get any from another set, exchange them for the right set.  We have four incompatible sets.  If I had known it would catch on like this I would have picked one set and stuck with it.  Train tracks are taking over my house..

Skoy Cloth Review and 2 Giveaways!!!! - CLOSED

I am always looking for new ways to be eco-friendly and Skoy Cloth came up with a wonderful new way to help decrease our carbon footprint.  How many paper towels do you go through a day? Three?  Five? Do you buy the huge pack of paper towels at a warehouse store like we used to?  What if you could have a reusable paper towel?  Well, Michelle and Karen came up with one!  It is called Skoy Cloth, and it is amazing!

I was so excited when I got mine in the mail.  They are absolutely adorable looking and had a bow around them, a perfect housewarming gift.  Ever since I got them I have stopped using paper towels as well as disinfecting wipes.  Every morning I use one of them to wipe down my kitchen counters and bathroom counters, then I rinse it and leave it to dry over the faucet.  They start out like hard cardboard, then when wet they become a nice and soft towel with ridging to help pick up those pesky crumbs.

These are seriously the perfect invention!  The only thing I would add is maybe a loop at the top to make it easy to hang dry, but I guess I could always just use a thumbtack.

Here is some more information on their website!

Skoy Cloth has generously donated 2 packages of 4 Skoy Cloths!  For 2 of my readers to win! USA entrants only

Petunia Pickle Bottom Giveaway - Closed

I am so excited to do my first giveaway and have it be from one of my favorite designers!  I love Petunia Pickle Bottom!  I am a huge fan of their diaper bags (have been dying for a Cake diaper bag for a few years) and currently have a beautiful boxy backpack.   The giveaway is for a brand new with tags luscious and plush velour blanket in the Tiger Roll print.

Exercising mamas will truly love this blanket!  Knowing that your little one is toasty warm in this soft and cozy blanket while being pushed in a jogging stroller will definitely add to your brisk morning walk/jog/run.

Petunia Pickle Bottom was not the supplier of the item, nor are the comments endorsed by them, these are solely the author's opinion.

5/11/10 - Journal Entry

To be completed throughout the day:

Highs: I am still sore from yesterday's walk.  That means it was a great work out!

Lows:  I am a little sad that I can't spend the same quality baby time with Ellie, that I was able to do with Gavin.

Random: Knowing that I was taking the weekend off of dieting for Mother's Day, Mike got me a scrumptious tiramasu cake, so delicious. Well Sunday came and went and a good 1/2-1/3 of the cake was left taunting me all day yesterday. So I asked Mike to take it with him to work today, let the office folk get the lbs, not me. I went to bed early as he watched the DVR'd Lakers game..... woke up this morning to find the cake container in the trash and chocolate shavings on the counter and floor. I think something was lost in translation. So much for doing this diet with me! Maybe we should've made a friendly wager.

Exercise: Got up at 5:30am and did the elliptical for 35 minutes - 290.8 calories. Felt so good! A little Britney Spears on Pandora to work out to, and a little Metallica to cool down to.

Random: Tried Fat Free cream cheese on a cracker - yuck!!! Will be going back to 1/3 fat. That was nasty.

Highs: Ellianna rolled over twice! Our friends moved onto our street and Gavin had his first playdate without the other friend's mom there.

Lows: Mike might have pink eye, so he couldn't watch Ellie so I could work out this morning :-( I am going to run through sprinklers with Gavin and his friends to get my heartbeat going. My diet is sucking today too, funny how working out in the morning totally starts the day out right.

Random Thoughts: Ok Kourtney Kardashian, I don't like you. I just read an article on you in OK magazine (gotta love free subscriptions) and not only have you lost the weight, but your butt is now better than prepregnancy????? Ughhh The celebrities really ruin it for us regular women who can't afford nannies so we can work out hours on end. How do you think our husbands feel when they see celebs who really pack on the weight during pregnancy and then lose it within a couple of months. Kendra and Kourtney, we all had babies within a month of eachother and I am still a heffer and you guys are ready for the runway. You have really let me down.

Welcome To My Blog!!

Last month I started trying to eat better and live healthier and decided to start blogging about it.

Four years ago before getting pregnant with my first child I was a size zero. While I looked and felt great, I led an unhealthy lifestyle. Between work and hours at the gym, nibbling power bars, and popping a diet pill every morning, I was a far cry from a role model.

Now as an unpleasantly plump mother of two I have decided that I do want to look and feel great, but I want to do it in a healthy manner. I want to lead a healthy lifestyle in which to raise my family in. I want there to always be veggies on our plate, time outside, and enjoyable exercise to get our blood pumping.

This blog will serve as a food journal, exercise tracker, weight recorder, and daily diary.

Welcome to day one of my new life...
